Report about the first regional fan meeting CentrO Oberhausen
on 13 November 2004
Finally, it was the day of the day. The first regional Limahl fan meeting finally took place. As central meeting point we had decided for the foyer of a sports shop called "Sportarena" directly in the heart of CentrO Oberhausen (Germany). Until all the fans arrived it took almost about 30 minutes. However, there was only one reason for this. The Christmas early season had already started and car-parks, although there were quite manies, were rather a rarity.
As the first station of our meeting, we headed for an Italian ice coffeehouse because it was time to have our regular 4 o'clock coffee or cocoa. There was quite a lot to talk about, of course. Some fans already knew each other from other Limahl appearances, but the rest caught up with the others quite quickly. The main topic was, of course, Limahl, the appearance at the Euregio Movie Award and the question when Limahl will be in Germany again. We send a big prais to the two non-Limahl fans who were with us. Because one thing was very clear the hardes job hat the only two men in this group who who only there for accompanying reason.
Then it was already 6 pm. Time for refreshment. So we walked towards "Louisiana", a nice and comfortable Restaurant with Confederate Cuisine. A table was already booked. There we met another Limahl fan. Again we talked about our favourite topic and about some other things. At 10.30 pm we all agreed, we had already sat and babbled enough. We strollen along the promenade in the hope to find a place where we could get rid of all our calories from the supper. For a short moment, Steffi and Betty lost the rest of the group. A man who was celebrating his stag night with his friends addressed them. Both were asked if they don't want to buy one of the many liqueurs he had with him from him for one Euro. As Steffi was in a good mood, she invited Betty. Very quickly both girls tried to get back to their group and they succeeded.
After examing a couple of places, we decided to continue our meeting which was so far really cool in a pub called "König" (king). Unfortunately, it was also time to say goodbye to one of the fans already. After entering the pub, a waiter accompanied us to a separate room upstairs. It was quite nice in there, the music was not too loud so that conversation was still possible. After everybody ordered his drink it was time for some dancing and everybody was in a good mood. So it was no wonder that time really flew. In the meantime, the boys from the stag night party arrived in the room too and we clank glasses. Then at about 1 in the morning it was time to say goodbye as some fans had to catch their trains.
Everybody was quite sure: this fan meeting was a success therefore there shouldn't be any problem for a second meeting next year!
